Punkie's Trip to Sweden 2001

We had left central Sweden to go to Norrbotten. We stopped at towns in Umeå (a college town), Luleå (where Carin and Ebbe live), and finally Boden, where most of the rest of my family live.

As far as we know, this is the only other painting my mother made that is still in existence. My mother was a professional artist, and painted many things, but when I moved out of my house, I never got one. Then my father remarried, and as far as I know, did not keep them. I now have the other one, given to me by my Uncle Chuck. This one belongs to Carin.

This is JonEric and Karin's stuga. JonEric is Siv's brother, Sven's uncle. He and Karin have two kids, Tobjorn and Susann. When I first saw this place in 1994, it only had one floor. Then in 1996, it had two floors, but no stairs. Now it has stairs, after a long fight about where to put them.

This is where they put the stairs, in the dining room. The "Guestbook" is that skin on the wall. It has signatures going back to the 1970s.

JonEric smoking fish. JonEric is a sweet, loveable guy, who is very frustrated I don't speak Swedish. He speaks a little English, but not much. He gave me a back end tour of Boden. he showed me how Norwegian tourist dollars pay for a lot of stuff, including a large campground, a waterpark, and "Westerntown," a Scandiavian dude ranch.

This is the river in the back of their house. Ugh, I am so jealous.

Tobjorn's kids, David and Gustaf. They saw the camera, and like a reflex action, posed for me. Behind them is their mother Maria, and behind her is Tobjorn and JonEric. Their kids are wonderful!

David, at age 7, already does motorcross, which is really popular in Sweden right now.

Here is a picture taken earlier of David and Gustaf.
