Here's my book amid the Bits Traveller setup. I didn't sell a single one, but I did get myself known a little. That counts for something, since I had not spread this far west before. |
I thought this was impressive, but later, when I didn't have a camera, this display was at least three times larger. I used to do the same thing with IBM punch cards as a kid. |
They had a huge "History of D&D" exhibit in honor 30 years of D&D. I felt so old. It kept going, "I still have some of this stuff! OMG, it's 'history?'" Then everything after 1987... total washout. Like watching a bastardization of what I held dear. |
This display is still "recent D&D" to me. 1986. Half of this con was like I had gone into a time machine in 1987, and arrived in 2004. "No TSR? Someone else owns Dragon Magazine? What kind of freakish, weird world have I stepped into???" [Twilight Zone music] |
I toured Indianapolis when I could. Here's a church... |
I thought this was a nice scene. I tried to take better pictures at this con, as the mood caught me. Where is this? Who knows... |
This was a completely impressive memorial to Soldiers and Sailors. It dominates the downtown. This picture doesn't do this monument justice, and no, it's not leaning. I was just crooked. |
Here is part of it close up. The colors are brighter and more vibrant than this photo shows. |
NVidia had a HUGE presence at Gencon. I am a NVidia fanatic, so I was okay with that. I talked with some of the reps, who were a bit pissed that they had Compaq computers, because although their video cards rocked, the computers they got sucked. Frame rate at the LAN party was HORRIBLE, and the big screen TV showed horrible lag. |
Star Wars. Episode III. Booth. Empty. Lucas, pick up the Green courtesy phone... On Thursday, some people were pushing for a 2005 viewing party, and almost getting booed by passers-by. |
Sony Entertainment Online. Pushing EverCrack--er, Quest 2. |
This is going to be one popular game for the XBox/PS2. You get to be Godzilla or one of his many enemies, where you battle in a 3-D kung-fu fight in a city of your choice, stomping and smashing buildings along the way. Totally. Cool. I had to wait until close to get a picture that didn't have over a dozen people in front of the display. |
